HOOK-n-SHOOT, one of the longest running MMA promotions in the country is gearing up to host a women's MMA event that is sure to be historic. Promoter Jeff Osborne states, "HnS has been running women's MMA longer than anyone in the US, and with a lot of the bigger companies that were supporting the ladies side of MMA going by the wayside, the timing seems right to do something historic".
The week will be filled with seminars including events hosted by women stars Shayna Bazler and Tara Larosa and world renowned MMA trainer Greg Jackson. The weekend will also feature an awards ceremony to honor the top competitors in 2008.
Friday night January 16th will see an amateur MMA show for women competitors. Osborne explains, "the gym is going to be set up so that competitors can stay there for the week. This is free of cost for those participating. For the show, we can seat up to 400 spectators and there are tons of people who are looking to participate. It is a great place to gain experience and ring time".
Saturday night January 17th will see HOOKnSHOOT's professional women's MMA event return to the Evansville Memorial Coliseum. Osborne continued, "this is going to be a great showcase for women's MMA, right now the ladies have limited venues in the USA. This week we have planned is going to be historic, and I think the best way to close the week out is with our traditional big show at the Coliseum".
