On Wednesday Dec 17 it was announced that Carina Moreno would get a shot at redemption against Wendy Rodriguez in a rematch against the opponent who handed Moreno her only loss. The fight is scheduled for February 5th at the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino in Lemoore, CA. They last fought in January 2006 and Rodriguez earned a controversial split-decision victory representing Moreno’s only professional loss.
Rodriguez won that fight in the sixth round because the referee claimed that a head butt by Moreno bloodied her eye to the point she could not continue. That meant that the cards would have to decide the fight. Moreno contended that it was a punch not a head butt causing the cut. This would have made Moreno the winner by TKO.
Since that loss, Moreno has won all 12 of her fights, and has won four title belts in two weight classes. Her record now stands at 20-1-0 with 6 KOs
