In a monumental women’s MMA bout Canadian Sarah Kaufman remained undefeated after soundly beating Shayna Baszler in a unanimous decision at Strikeforce: Challengers last Friday night. What made this fight so special was that it was the first in which women were allowed to go five-minute rounds. Kaufman (10-0) seamlessly made the transition to the longer rounds and was so prepared that she looked like she could have done it all over again when it was all said and done. After a first round in which Baszler (11-6) was effective in keeping the fight on the mat, Kaufman completely dominated the next two as she kept the fight upright and landed combo after combo to frustrate a winded and overmatched Baszler. The judges scored the fight 29-28 and 30-27 and 30-27.
