Kerry Vera will face Kim Couture in her next bout. Couture, fresh off a 'run in' at TNA Pro Wrestling's latest PPV, might be better served focusing on her training instead of getting involved in 'sports entertainment' (Photo: Affliction)
The Revolution Will Be Televised
Bellator Fighting Championships announced on Tuesday that they have finalized a broadcast deal with Fox Sports Net, NBC, and Telemundo, for its second and third seasons of tournament action. This increases the availability of high definition Bellator programming starting in April 2010. Here's hoping that the rumored 115 and 125-lb women's tournaments will be on the air next year.
Fake Catfight
Kim "Sugarfree: Couture (1-1), probably the worst female MMA fighter to ever get so much attention, engaged in a fake attack versus pro-wrestler Lisa Marie Varon at a TNA event. Varon is looking to get into MMA and raised eyebrows by challenging Couture to a match. The storyline is a very obvious attempt to drum up drama in the pro-wrestling community and get more viewers, but sadly makes it appear as if Kim Couture is not taking her next fight (against a very tough opponent) seriously. Couture, who lost her debut fight to Kim Rose(1-0) after battling all three rounds with a broken jaw (and then won a match against a woman who should never have been allowed in the cage) will be battling Kerry Vera (1-0).
Where Kim and Randy are in their divorce proceedings is frankly none of our business, but it is well known that Kerry Vera is also married to a UFC fighter (Brandon Vera). Unlike Kim, however, Kerry Vera actually knows how to fight. Kerry was the winner of the Muay Thai-based reality show Fight Girls and showcased her impressive striking ability in her decision win against Leslie Smith (1-1) at Bellator Fighting Championships 7 this past May. The match between Kim Couture and Kerry Vera is scheduled for November 20th, just six days after Randy Couture faces Brandon Vera at UFC 105.
