Valerie Coolbaugh will face MMA superstar Tara LaRosa in Philadelphia on November 20th

FIGHT'S OFF!

Erin Toughill's (10-2-1) fight versus Marloes Coenen (16-3), scheduled for Strikeforce's November 7th card, is now cancelled. Toughill has pulled out for undisclosed medical reasons. Roxanne Modafferi (17-4-0) will reportedly take Toughill's place in the fight.

A bout between Sarah Kaufman (10-0) and Takayo Hashi (12-1), scheduled for "Strikeforce Challengers V: Woodley vs. Bears" on November 20th, has been postponed until next year.

Strikeforce could not be reached for comment.

VICIOUS VAL THE GRAPPLING CHAMP

Valerie Coolbaugh (3-2 MMA) won the women's division of the Big Bully No-gi Grappling Tournament in Evansville, Indiana on October 24th. She won both matches by submission (Americana and armbar). Coolbaugh, who won her last fight against Linda Cunningham (0-4) by armbar, will be facing MMA superstar Tara LaRosa (17-1) next month.

MORE TOURNAMENT RESULTS

The US Team Trials for the Fila World Grappling (No Gi) Championships took place in Phoenix this weekend. In the 50 kg (110 lbs.) division, Felicia Oh beat Lisa Ward (12-5 MMA) on points two times (9-8 and (3-0). In the 55kg (121 lbs.) division, former wrestling world silver medalist Stephanie Murata submitted Shasta McMurry and scored a decision over Danielle Hobeika for the win. Hobeika submitted McMurry for 2nd place. Tara LaRosa (59 kg/130 lbs)  (17-1 MMA) and Tori Adams (67 kg/147 lbs.) were both uncontested. The most challenging bracket was 63kg (138.75 lbs.) MMA fighter Shayna Baszler (9-6 MMA) was off to a slow start and lost to Miesha Tate (7-2 MMA) on points. Then Olympic Silver medalist Sara McMann submitted Angelic Rein. Tate also submitted Rein, and then Baszler submitted McMann.  McMann beat Tate on points, and Baszler submitted Rein.  All three women had two wins and one loss, but Shayna Baszler came in 1st because both of her wins were by submission. The freestyle wrestling winners included Ashley McKilligan, Genevieve Haley, Jillian Galley, Kelsey Campbell, Sara McMann, Holly Thien, Adeline Gray and Iris Smith.

This weekend's National Pankration tournament winners include lightweight champion Delecia Valasquez-Stump and heavyweight champion V. Anglada.

FIGHT RESULTS

Elena "Baby Doll" Reid (4-0) defeated Masako Yoshida (16-15-5) via 3rd round TKO at Extreme Beatdown. Reid weighed in at 118.8 pounds for this 115 lb. fight. Although this is the first time Reid has missed weight in her 15 years of fighting and 11 years of competing in boxing, kickboxing and now MMA,  it is worth noting that Yoshida weighed in at only 111.8 making the weight difference quite substantial. Reid did a phenomenal job defending takedown attempts and using crisp punches for the win. Watch the third round here:

Sally Krumdiack (7-2) scored the 125-lb belt at Freestyle Cage Fighting by defeating Nicdali "Night Queen" Calanoc (6-4) via Unanimous Decision at FCF 36.

Jan Finney (5-7) defeated Marissa Caldwell (0-1) via TKO in R1, MMA BigShow: Full Force

Ayuka Hamazaki (1-0) defeated Kinuka Sasak (3-8) via TKO at two minutes into the second round of SHOOTO: GIG Central.

And in the all-women's event Valkyrie 3, Naoko Omuro (10-7-3) defeated Yukiko Seki (5-18) via Unanimous Decision. Sachiko "Sachi" Yamamoto (6-4-1) defeated Maho Muranami (4-6-2) via Armbar at 2:32 of R2. Naho "Rock Cryptomeria" Sugiyama (1-0) defeated Madoka Ebihara (4-3) via Unanimous Decision. Fukuko Hamada (1-0) defeated Yuko Takagi (0-1) via Armbar at 1:01 of R2. Aya Miura(1-0) defeated Masae "Morimegu" Mori (0-2) via Unanimous Decision. Misaki Takimoto (11-11-4) defeated Yasuko Mogi (4-5) via TKO at :51 of R3. And unfortunately, the bout between Izumi "Jet Izumi" Noguchi (5-5-1) and Emi Fujino (8-3) never took place.

UPCOMING FIGHTS

American Top Team's Jessica Aguilar (5-3) is fighting April "The Princess" Coutino (2-0) at South Florida Cage Wars.

Michelle Vera takes (1-0) on Angela Hayes (1-5) at IAMMA: Brawl at the Bowl. Three of Hayes' losses have come by way of armbar, so hopefully she's learned to defend that by now.

And Paulina "Pika" Suska (1-1) is fighting Eva Liskova (0-1) at NNB: Nitrianska Noc Bojovnikov.
