FIGHT RESULTS
It didn't take long for Marloes Coenen (17-3) to defeat Roxanne Modafferi (13-5) via armbar at Strikeforce: Fedor vs Rogers. The submission win only took one minute and five seconds. This fight was not aired, presumably due to time constraints, and we haven't been able to find video anywhere. Here's hoping Modafferi will be fighting for Strikeforce again in the future, hopefully in her normal weight class of 135 lbs and with more than a week's notice. I tried to get a comment on this from Strikeforce, but they never call me back and I'm starting to take it personally. Coenen will now be facing Cris"Cyborg" Santos (8-1) in January.
Roxy's coach and corner, Kirik Jenness, wrote an amazing piece about the fight from his perspective.
In other Strikeforce fight news, Zoila Frausto (4-0) handily defeated Elisha Helsper (0-1) via unanimous decision at Strikeforce Challengers Series. Frausto was incredibly explosive, landing some great headkicks and Superman punches. However, the outcome of the fight might have been substantially different if the ref hadn't stood Frausto up from half guard for absolutely no reason (unless ground and pound is considered stalling) and also separated the girls in clinch (also for no reason), which basically prevented Helsper from working her game. If I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd say that the ref really wanted local fighter Zoila Frausto to win. Watch it for yourself and leave your thoughts in the comments.
Ireland's Aisling Daly (9-0) scored a unanimous decision victory against Finland's Maiju Kulaja (1-1) at Cage of Honour. Now that Aisling's 9-0 I'd love to see her fight, say, Rin Nakai or Carina Damm or Sally Krumdiak. Aisling has yet to be tested against a top-ten fighter.
The two Freestyle Cage Fighting bouts both went to unanimous decisions, with Amanda Lucas (1-0) defeating Christen Bedwell (0-1) and Malissa Sherwood (3-1) defeating Kelmy Jasso (0-2).
Two DEEP fights that took place on Tuesday, November 10th: Han So Loo's was scheduled to debut versus Miki Morifuji (8-6). Instead it was Lee Han Suk (0-1) who made her debut and lost by unanimous decision.Yuko "Amiba" Oya (3-1) defeated Masako Yoshida (16-16-5), also by unanimous decision.
NOVEMBER RANKINGS
The WAMMA women's rankings for November are up. The bantamweight (135) and featherweight (145) divisions remain unchanged. The biggest change took place in the flyweight division (115) with Miku Matsumoto (22-4) taking over Yuka Tsuji's (23-1) second-place ranking. Miku is on a 12-fight winning streak, including 3 wins this year. Two of these were wins over top-10 opponents, including Windy Tomomi (12-11-1) and Lisa Ward (12-5). However, Miku and Tsuji have not yet fought each other.
Another change in the flyweight division is Ana Michelle Tavares, previously in 4th place, being removed due to inactivity. Fighters 5-9 each moved up a slot, and Angela Magana moved back in as #10.
Changes also took place in the super flyweight (125) division, Sally Krumdiak (7-2), who scored a unanimous decision win over Nicdali Rivera (6-4), moved up a slot to take Windy Tomomi's (12-11-1) place.Tomomi lost her recent fight to Miku Matsumoto (22-4). Krumdiak is now ranked 5th with Tomomi trailing behind in 6th. The two have yet to fight each other. Also in the super flyweight division, Kanako Takashita (7-2), formerly #5, was removed due to inactivity. Jeri Sitzes (3-1) moved into the last place slot.

ANOTHER CANCELLATION
Sophie Baggherdai (4-1) was supposed to be fighting Avery Vilche (1-3-1-1) at Called Out MMA 2, but the event was canceled. Bagherdai's most recent fight, in which she scored a unanimous decision win over Angela Hayes (1-5), took place just over a year ago. Avery Vilche most recently lost to Muay Thai legend Kathy Long this past August.
