 Before the world of MMA celebrated their sport in the Vegas spirit of excess Tuff N Uff lit the opening torch with it's Friday Amateur Fighting Champions show. Many skilled amateur fighters from the finest MMA gyms out there have been making appearances in the Meyer brothers shows. Barry and Jeff Meyers previously established businessmen have used their savvy to convert themselves from huge MMA fanatics to the "go to" men of top quality ammy shows. On Friday they were able to put together 14 exciting match ups including two strong female competitors. Gabriella Lakoczky of Wand Fight Team and Ashley Cummins of Vaghi MMA went at it at The Orleans hotel and Cummins proved to be faster with her hands and with her takedowns. Of course Lakoczky was there to answer with impressive strikes. In the end Ashley took a unanimous-decision victory. The main event of Friday's show was an example of an excellent match up. Jimmy Spicuzza won by split decision over Christian Palencia. Jimmy who fights out of Team Lethal took the fight because he was a more effective wrestler that night. Even though the stand up exchanges were evenly dispersed over each fighter's body the ratio of dropping bodies was higher for Jimmy. Jimmy also managed to pull off a successful escape from a solid guillotine would have been the element that could have cost him the fight. The MMA weekend will wrap up with twelve more fights on Sunday at another Amateur Fighting Champions show. Once again another tough female fight will be featured on the card between 1-0 Team Jackson's Women's MMA fighter Emily Peters-Kagan and 1-0 Team Quest's Autumn Richardson. The main event will feature Maurice Senters of Striking Unlimited and Chris Brady of Legend's MMA.
