ROF 38: ASCENSION WOMEN HEADLINE: FIRST TIME IN PROMOTION HISTORY

Written by Ring Of Fire

DENVER, CO - RING OF FIRE MMA is one of the first promotions to feature women fighters, however at ROF 38: ASCENSION the promotion will give the ladies the main event spot.

"I have been a supporter of Women's MMA for a long time. We've been putting on womens matches for years, and were the first in this region to do so. But it used to be really hard to find true trained fighters, and you only had a handful to choose from." said promoter Sven Bean.

"But now the women ranks are growing. When you see a womens bout headline a card on national TV, well you know the ladies have arrived. And it's no different with Ring Of Fire. The time is right and I think the fans will respond as well."

Not only will the main event feature the ROF 125 lbs Womens Championship, but the card will have 3 womens bouts in total. The promotions #1 ranked female fighter, Cat Albert will square up against Gladiator Challenge 125 Champion Christina Marks.

Albert being a world class wrestler normally has the edge in grappling. Cat wrestled on the boys team in high school. She then advanced to compete in College and became a 2 time National Champion and 2 time Freestyle National Champion. In MMA, she has been able to transfer those skills effectively and controls her opponents with strength and positioning. But at ROF 38 she will have her hands full with Marks. Hailing from the Fight Ugly team from San Diego, California, Marks brings a well rounded skill set to the table. She finished her last opponent with a standing rear naked choke in the second round.

Kate Martinez, who was recently promoted to purple belt by the legendary Royce Gracie will also appear on the event. She will face Celestina Cano, a boxer-kickboxer from Plainview, Texas. And local grappler Michelle Blalock will vie for the ROF 125 lbs Young Guns Belt against Indiana's Audrey Pang. Pang who is originally from Canada, shares a similar wrestling pedigree as Cat Albert. Pang made history as the first women to wrestle on the mens team at Princeton University.

ROF is known as the launch pads for the stars in the industry. And that tradition continues at ROF 38. Three of the most promising up and coming fighters in the region will appear. At Middleweight, Chaun Simms has been making his presence known finishing all of his opponents, with 3 of them not making it past the first round. Simms will step way up in level of opponent as Korea's Myeon Ho Bae makes his ROF debut. Myeon Ho Bae has a 9-5 record and is a veteran of Japan's DREAM promotion.

The powerful Robert Martinez makes his promotional debut as well and brings his perfect record with him. Martinez went 6-0 as an amateur and is now 2-0 as a professional. Of his 8 wins, 7 are by way of knockout. Martinez will face his most technical striker based opponent in Chidi Njokauni. If that name sounds familiar, it's because Chidi is the younger brother of WEC star Anthony Njokuani. Chidi is is a World Combat League veteran and has the same fighting style and aggressive nature as his brother.

Vinnie The ASSAULT Lopez has gone 3-0 in his first 3 mma bouts. He admits his style at first was mostly just a progression of his street fighting ability. Even his nick name is a nodd towards his younger street days. However as of late Lopez has been training with some of the world's best fighters at Grudge Training Center. Grudge is home to a who's who of the MMA elite, including Shane Carwin, Nate Marquardt, Rashad Evans, etc. Lopez, a heavy handed striker, feels his game has increased by leaps and bounds and is ready for the pro circuit. Standing in his way will be one of the most durable fighters on the regional circuit, Chris Holland. Holland will be making his second ROF appearance and brings a 6-4 record , with all 6 of his wins coming by knockout. This match has local insiders laying odds as top Fight Of The Night candidate.
